Background
Co-owner of Spiegel Property Damage Consulting and Forensics, with Brother David Spiegel, is a family owned business. Spiegel Certified Restoration was established by parents Don and Audrey Spiegel in 1950 specializing in property damage (contents and structure) restoration in the Southern California area.
Over the years services included mold remediation, environmental deep cleaning, water damage mitigation, fire and smoke damage, sewage backflow decontamination, earthquakes, odors, vandalism, textile cleaning, and reconstruction.
Over 40 years experience in the cleaning and property damage industry.
Provide expert witness testimony, property damage assessment, consulting, and third party evaluation services on issues related to property damage restoration. I am a qualified professional with experience in Arbitrations, Mediations, Appraisals, and Court proceedings.
I have been a speaker nationally and internationally on topics related to property damage restoration and mold contamination. Some speaking engagements have included Property Loss Research Bureau (PLRB) National Mold Symposium, Charlotte, North Carolina, Forensic Consultants Association on toxic mold litigation and mold remediation, Newport Beach, Ca, Association of Specialist in Cleaning & Restoration on deodorization of buildings Vancouver, BC, and water damage pricing, in Orlando Fl., documenting water damage mitigation and mold remediation, in Las Vegas NV., to mention a few.

Brian Spiegel was the First President of RIA Restoration Industry Association {formerly ASCR a 65 year old association} President of the Association of Specialist in Cleaning & Restoration (ASCR) 06-07. Brian previously served as the Vice President of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Association of Specialists in Cleaning & Restoration (ASCR) 2005 and was a member of the Executive Committee. Previously served as the Treasurer for two years (2003-2005); President of the National Institute of Disaster Restoration (NIDR), a division of ASCR; member of the NIDR Advisory Committee for seven years; Chairman of the Certified Restorer program for two years; member of the ASCR Board of Directors (1996-98); and recipient of the Distinguished Service Award and the Martin L. King Award recognizing professionalism, excellence in the profession and a sense of community and service to ASCR (1998). March 2007 received RIA Distinguished Service Award.
The Restoration Industry Association (RIA) is the only international trade association in the cleaning and restoration industry. RIA has many member firms located throughout the USA as well as many international firms specializing in restoring, remediating, cleaning, and repairing damaged buildings, and their contents. The organization provides education and promotes ethical practices throughout the industry.
